At the heart of everything Brandon does is a deep love for people — and that starts at home. Family is his anchor and his greatest source of joy. Whether he's exploring a new trail, setting up camp under the stars, or just adventuring around the backyard with Coco, his golden retriever, Brandon brings the same enthusiasm and presence to his personal life that he brings to his work in schools.
An avid hiker, biker, and camper, Brandon finds energy and perspective in the outdoors. He believes that time in nature — away from screens and schedules — is essential for balance, creativity, and growth. Those same values of curiosity, resilience, and connection shape the way he leads, teaches, and builds relationships with students, families, and staff.
Whether he's navigating a mountain trail or a complex IEP, Brandon approaches every challenge with optimism, purpose, and a genuine love for the journey.
Family is the foundation of everything. Brandon's greatest adventures and proudest moments happen surrounded by the people he loves most.
Coco, Brandon's golden retriever, is a constant companion on walks, hikes, and everyday adventures.
From mountain trails in Montana to local paths in Indiana, hiking grounds Brandon and gives him space to think and recharge.
Whether on a road or a trail, biking is one of Brandon's favorite ways to explore, stay active, and clear his head.
There's nothing quite like a night under the stars. Camping reconnects Brandon to simplicity, community, and quiet.
A lifelong learner in and out of school, Brandon believes curiosity is the best compass — in life and in leadership.
Every meaningful relationship — at home, in the classroom, or on the trail — starts with genuine human connection.
Continuous growth isn't just a professional goal — it's a way of life, pursued with curiosity and humility.
Whether exploring a new trail or a complex challenge at school, Brandon approaches life with an adventurer's spirit.
Brandon Kendall has been an educator with the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) since August, 2015. During his time with BCSC, Brandon has served as a teacher in an education program for residents of Columbus Behavior Center (CBC), a residential facility for children and adolescents with emotional issues, and for the last six years has served as a behavior coordinator for BCSC and the Bartholomew Special Services Cooperative (BSSC). In addition, Brandon is a certified trainer through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and provided crisis and de-escalation training for BSSC and BCSC.
As a teacher at CBC, Brandon utilized a variety of instructional strategies to support the students in his classes. Connecting the content and instruction to the students' prior knowledge and real-life experiences allowed him to engage a very diverse group of students. Brandon also utilized project-based learning as a means of helping students see the connection of their work to the real world.
Brandon's success in supporting students academically and emotionally is what led to his movement into the position of BCSC and BSSC Behavior Coordinator. As a behavior coordinator Brandon has worked with all seventeen schools in BCSC and two additional school districts who belong to BSSC. His focus on the needs of the student allows him to offer practical suggestions that teachers and principals find very valuable.
If you are seeking a student-oriented educator who is able to adapt to various cultures and environments, then Brandon would be an excellent choice. I highly recommend him and would hire him again without hesitation.
Sincerely,
Dr. George Van Horn, Ed.D.Director of Special Education — Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation
I recommend Brandon Kendall as an exceptional candidate for an administrator position. Brandon has served Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation for ten years as a special education teacher, behavior coordinator, and most recently as a program leader and teacher for students with emotional disabilities. His consistent focus on both student and staff needs, along with his passion for helping students access academics, has prepared him well for the role of an administrator.
Brandon brings a thoughtful and reflective approach to leadership. He takes the time to think deeply about complex situations, consider multiple perspectives, and ultimately make decisions that are in the best interest of students. Even when those decisions may challenge the status quo or feel uncomfortable, he remains grounded in what is right for kids.
As a leader, Brandon is dedicated to making those around him better. He naturally pushes colleagues to grow, reflect, and improve their practice while also providing the support needed to do so successfully. His collaborative mindset, combined with his ability to motivate both staff and students, creates a culture of continuous growth.
Brandon is especially skilled in supporting students with social-emotional and behavioral needs. He uses research-based practices, models effective strategies for staff, and consistently works to identify root causes in order to create meaningful, lasting change for students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Casey VoelzPrincipal — L. Frances Smith Elementary School
